Bartillon Shelter Rendering

Help Create Pathways Out of Homelessness

Our community’s first purpose-built shelter is being constructed at 1904 Bartillon Dr., to serve 250 men experiencing homelessness. Public funding covers construction and essential operations. Private donations are needed to operate the shelter 24/7, ensuring the shelter is more than a place to sleep, but is a path forward.

Why Your Gift Matters

A Purpose-Built solution.

After years of temporary facilities, this is the first purpose-built men’s shelter in Dane County, designed with dignity and safety in mind.

Closing the gap for 24/7 service.

The City of Madison and Dane County have invested in building the shelter, and private funds will help keep doors open 24 hours a day. Donations to Shelter Friends of Dane County will help the building fulfill its potential.

Better outcomes.

Around-the-clock shelter means stable access to meals, showers, housing case management, and healthcare referrals, not just a place to sleep.

What Your Gift Supports

  • Expanded services beyond a night’s stay: help with housing, healthcare, and stability.
  • Staffing & operations for a true 24/7 model (security, case managers, support staff).
  • Meals, showers, and daily essentials for men using the shelter.
